Tracing the evolutionary history of the novel PRRSV-2 L1C-1-4-4 variant

This is our Friday rubric: every week a new Science Page from the Bob Morrison’s Swine Health Monitoring Project. The previous editions of the science page are available on our website.

This Friday we are looking at the PPRSv L1C-1-4-4 variant and comparing its evolution to other PRRSv strains, thanks to research by Nakarin Pamornchainavakul, Mariana Kikuti, Igor A. D. Paploski, Dennis N. Makau, Albert Rovira, Cesar A. Corzo, and Kimberly VanderWaal.

What are PRRS lineages?

This is our Friday rubric: every week a new Science Page from the Bob Morrison’s Swine Health Monitoring Project. The previous editions of the science page are available on our website.

Following up from last week’s article, Igor Paploski, Mariana Kikuti and Cesar Corzo dig into what PRRS linages are and give background on Lineage 1, and the sublineages that further classify the virus.

Experimental pig study confirms the high virulence of the recently emerged PRRSV 1-4-4 L1C variant strain

This is our Friday rubric: every week a new Science Page from the Bob Morrison’s Swine Health Monitoring Project. The previous editions of the science page are available on our website.

In today’s Science Page we learn about the findings of a study conducted by researchers at Iowa State University inoculating pigs with the 1-4-4 L1C variant.
