Virtual Leman Conference in Spanish on December 2021

This year we decided to expand the outreach offerings of the AD Leman Swine Conference to include a program dedicated to Spanish-speaking swine industry professionals, including swine professionals in North America. With COVID, travel restrictions, and the growing participation of the Hispanic labor force in the North American swine industry, there is a need to provide training in Spanish to Spanish-speaking swine industry professionals in North America. The small session offered in Spanish at Leman was just not enough to cover the growing needs that the swine industry has. This coupled with the tremendous response to the 2020 Leman Conference when the conference was delivered virtually in English, Spanish and Portuguese, we decided to create and launch a separate virtual Leman Conference for the Spanish speaking community whether they are in the U.S., Canada, Latin America or anywhere else around the world.

The first Leman Conference in Spanish will be held virtually on December 1st and 2nd of 2021. The conference is designed to bring the latest relevant scientific information to help solve current and emerging industry challenges. A total of 3 keynotes and 18 technical presentations will address specific areas related to Foreign Animal Disease Preparedness, African Swine Fever Control Experiences, Health and Biosecurity, Production, Nutrition, Diagnostics and Human Resources. The presentations will include a mix of practical, basic, and somewhat more complex topics all delivered in Spanish with extensive opportunities to ask questions and interact with the presenters. Here are a few of the presentations that will be given during the event.

  • Current situation of PRRS 144 variant in the US industry and how to protect your farm
  • Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae control and elimination: Current perspectives
  • Management practices to wean flu negative pigs
  • Biosecurity non-negotiables in a pig production system: A practical approach
  • ASF: clinical presentation and lesions
  • ASF in the Americas: What we learned in the past and how do we get ready for the future
  • Current status of ASF vaccines
  • Producers, veterinarians, and government: getting ready for foreign animal diseases
  • Feeding and nutrition for a healthy pig
  • Dynamic management of the nutrition program for modern sows

Vaccine Dose and Timing Matter in a PRRS Fight

Podcasts are a perfect way to get caught up with new swine information! We are presenting you the latest episode from “At The Meeting… Honoring Dr. Bob Morrison” in collaboration with SwineCast.

If a modified live vaccine is one of your weapons against a significant PRRS break, using the labeled dose at the right time is critical. Yet this science-based fact is not always followed.
