Dr. Xiaomei Yue, postdoctoral associate with the U’s Morrison Swine Health Monitoring Project, was recently interviewed on the Swine Health Blackbelt Podcast, where she discussed growing adoption, benefits, and challenges of oral fluid sampling, including industry variations in sampling frequency and handling.


Dr. Montse Torremorell, Department Chair of the CVM’s Department of Veterinary Population Medicine discussed (alongside Dr. Cameron Schmitt)the paper “Naturally occurring influenza reassortment in pigs facilitates the emergence of intra-host virus subpopulations with distinct genotypes and replicative fitness” on Processing the Litter-ature!


And on Minnesota’s Swine & U: Dr. Rachel Schambow from the University of Minnesota’s Center for Animal Health and Food Safety spoke about the analysis her and her colleagues did of USDA’s Sick Pig Surveillance component at Iowa State University and the University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories, as well as the USDA’s Sick Pig Surveillance program in general and how producers and veterinarians can support surveillance for African Swine Fever and Classical Swine Fever.
